LocaleMinder.com is a new and revolutionary Computer Aided Translation (CAT) tool for creating and maintaining software localizations.
LocaleMinder.com is specifically designed to resolve the all too common problems associated with translating and maintaining translations for a software application during every stage of the development lifecycle. Not only does it resolve the conflicts that exist between bringing a product to market as soon as possible and having it fully translated, but it also solves the problem of translations becoming 'out-of-date' during the maintenance cycle of an application release. LocaleMinder.com fits into the software development lifecycle better than any other tool currently on the market and yet is completely invisible in the development process.
Rather than being an after-thought, which is the case in most Computer Aided Translation tools, LocaleMinder.com has been designed from the ground up around source control of the translations and the source text. This design goal was given such prominence due to our teams experience of developing and managing the translations of huge Enterprise applications. We understand that as applications evolve not all text changes and incremental translations are often what is required. We also understand that translation is not a one-off task and hot-fixes and service packs will often also contain some modified or new text that needs translating. We also understand that reintegrating staggered deliveries from translators is not a scalable software localization solution when attempting to support more than a few languages. We understand the problems and LocaleMinder.com is our solution.
However LocaleMinder.com also includes superior implementations of all the common features expected in automated software localization solutions such as translation memory and a wide range of supported file formats.
We currently have about 1,000 registered freelance translators and support most languages. We are continuously adding more translators to increase our maximum throughput and translator coverage for each language.
LocaleMinder.com has a web service that you send your texts to during your regular automated builds. A library that contains an Apache Ant task for calling the LocaleMinder.com service is provided and can be downloaded from here . The source is supplied within the distribution. Over the coming months source and binary modules will be made available for other common build systems or you can use the source as an example to build your own client to the web service. The texts received by the web service are compared to the current ones held in our database and translations for any modified texts are marked as 'out-of-date'. New translation records are created for any new texts that weren't previously in our database and are marked as 'missing'. The response to the web service will optionally include the current translations for all languages requested.
The newly marked 'out-of-date' and 'missing' translations are then assigned to our freelance translators . They are contacted via email to notify them that translations are required.
Not only can you retrieve translations at build time but you can build the functionality directly into your application so that your end users can request the latest translations for their version of the application. Doing this allows you to increase the number of supported languages and improve or fix translations without having to do a new build of the application.
The usage fee for LocaleMinder.com is calculated on a daily basis based on the number of words in your account. Translations costs are variable based on the fee registered by the freelance translators. LocaleMinder.com keeps translation costs as low as possible by using a sophisticated algorithm to allocate translations to translators based on their cost and accuracy. Firstly LocaleMinder.com is free to use for translators. Just register and once we launch and have reviewed your registration you can start translating and earning. LocaleMinder.com will email you when texts are required for translation or proof reading and you can login over the Internet and start. LocaleMinder.com automatically maintains your rating using a sophisticated algorithm of your accuracy as reviewed by your peers and our customers; speed of translation and response time. The higher your rating, the more work LocaleMinder.com will automatically assign to you. The rating system is also designed to prevent abuse of LocaleMinder.com.
